Chosen Solution
I can start my laptop in normal mode yet when I try to click the start button or any other app/folder it shows the loading symbol for what seems like 20-30 minutes. I can access safe mode but I have to power off manually, seems to work 9/10 times but sometimes even safe mode seems to freeze/stop responding. I have deleted unused programs, run AVG which shows no problems. Run malware bytes which shows no problems either. I have defragmented the hard drive, run disk cleanups and used every solution when pressing F8 on start up, still get an extremely slow running laptop. Any advice would be much appreciated!!
Depending on the age, there may be nothing you can do. Hard drives fail over time and it sounds like thats whats happening to yours. I had a hard drive that even with a fresh install of windows, it was still really slow, changed out the drive and it was running great. I suggest backing up your data ASAP because any longer and you might never get to see it again. Once your data is backed up, I would suggest getting a new hard drive, or even an SSD depending on how much data you have stored on your laptop.
