First of all my device is a Galaxy S6 Active, they just didn’t have the device listed in the options, or if they did I couldn’t find it, so I selected the closest thing. Again its an S6 Active. So I recently dropped my phone and it shattered the screen and damaged some pixels. The phone was fully functional, still received calls, texts, app notifications, for about six hours after I dropped it before the screen went completely black. So I ordered a replacement LCD kit very recently but am wondering if it will fully resolve my issue. I still get app notifications even while my screen is black and unresponsive. I pulled my sim card out to just check it and it looked fine. I called my service provider and they said nothing was wrong with the sim card and everything looked good on their end. But when I try to call it from another phone, the call wont go through and just gets sent straight to my voicemail. I’ve read on other forums and blogs that the screen and LCD shouldn’t have anything to do with incoming calls, and that I might have done further damage to the phone and broken the motherboard, but if the motherboard was broken, would I still be getting app notifications? If the motherboard was broken would my phone have been fully functional with broken pixels for six hours after I dropped it, like it was? Calls will not come through it goes straight to my voicemail, I’m not sure if I’m receiving texts cause my ringtone was set to silent, but I am getting app notifications and it will take charge. I’m just worried that I ordered this LCD replacement and it wont fully resolve my issues. So if my motherboard was broken would my phone still be getting app notifications, take charge, and be fully functional six hours after the drop? If it was just my LCD digitizer wouldn’t calls come through? Are there some middle ground things that could be wrong? Any answers are greatly, greatly, greatly appreciated. Just want to know the best way to move forward, whether its replacing the LCD or just biting down and replacing my phone. thank you
You really want to diagnose it further, replace the screen. Your secondary option is to see if a repair shop near you has a screen for that device and to see if they are willing to disassemble it and test it and diagnose from there, keep in mind it may cost you depending on the shop. The other thing to consider is how valuable is the information on the device, to my knowledge to extract data from the Samsungs you are required to unlock the phone and select “allow” in permissions in order to do so. Hope this helps you with your decision.
