Chosen Solution

Hi guys. I’m new in this community, and I’m writing here to ask for some help. I changed two displays on two different iPhone 5S, a black one and a white one. I did everything, except the isopropyl cleaning, with wrist bands to uncharge me. I noticed that both screens act weirdly. Both have washed out colors and writings, just like if the displays were not “retinas”, so have a low resolution. And both of them need me to touch the whole body of the phone to work properly, otherwise they need more pressure than normal to sense my touches. If I use a rubber tip pen, the ones that can be used on trackpads or mobile displays, both of them do not recognize any touch. What can I do? Any help is appreciated.

First, double/triple check your install. Pay especially close attention to the display ribbon cables/connectors - clean them, inspect them for damage, and reseat them carefully and press firmly when you are sure the alignment is right. Second, if you have a known good display, install that and see if the problem persists. If the problem goes away, you may have gotten a bad batch of screens. I once received two bad screens in a row (rare, but it does happen). Good news is iFixit has a Lifetime Guarantee (see https://eustore.ifixit.com/en/Warranty/), and are very easy to work with. Just triple check it isn’t your install before returning the part.

A little update. Maybe a last update. I received the fourth black display. It had the same old sensitivity issue. Contacting the “support” enraged and really disappointed (you know, I need that screen, otherwise I wouldn’t had bought it…) I talked about a trashy display (which is, being unusable). I received a childish answer, telling me that I won’t receive any more “trash” by them. This behavior is unacceptable. I paid for a fully functional display and got 4 black displays and 3 white displays all with issues… I’m posting a video of the issue. This is on the last display I tested. It has been the same on every display, except the last white one and the original black and white ones.
