I’ve got a brand new Samsung LCD TV. After using it for one day, a bar of noise (dynamic randomly changing pixels) appeared on the right for both external and internal image signals. It occasionally flickered away on its own for a few moments. As I was troubleshooting, I wondered (but could find no evidence online to support) whether my power connection could be the problem. I had chained from the wall to a power strip to a long extension cord to another power strip behind the tv where the TV, Apple TV, Nintendo Switch, and sound bar (60W) we’re connected, none of which were pulling much power. This setup worked perfectly fine with my previous Samsung Plasma TV. Modifying the power strip plug used did not fix the problem (though changing the plug used on the power strip connected to the wall appeared to offer a short 30 min reprieve). I removed the power strip connected to the wall from the circuit and plugged the extension cord directly to the wall. The problem has been gone for 24 hours and has not yet returned. My question is, does this even seem reasonable? I would think the tv’s internal power supply would regulate incoming noise and a lack of current or voltage would yield more pronounced issues than a noisy bar on the side of the tv. I’m still within the return window but I don’t want to return and replace a tv if my setup is the problem as a new tv won’t fix the problem.

@malaxtom “removed the power strip connected to the wall from the circuit and plugged the extension cord directly to the wall. The problem has been gone for 24 hours and has not yet returned” seems to point to your setup. The issue may not arise from the power supply of your TV but from the main board. That is what could give you the pixel situation. Make sure you have high quality HDMI cables and shielded wires etc. If you are having any doubts at all, I suggest you return the TV. It is easy for us to say that it’ll be okay but you are the one that spent the money and has to live with that TV :-)
