I recently replaced the LCD/digitizer assembly on my LG G3 D850. I had to use my two sided tape, I can’t get the re-cut crap to work. Anyway, I got done and all seemed fine. Went to boot it this morning and noticed the screen was no longer flush to the border around it. Every bit of the frame in the handset had tape on it. I then seated the display and affixed it into place. After pressing firmly all around the edge, I used my SMD and heated it just like I was taking it off. About 180c. Then it was another few minutes pressing firmly all the way around again. I thought all was well until this morning. Is there a “secret” or something to make this a sure repair? If nothing else, I will try any suggestions to see what works, so please give me some ideas. I tried what I know to no avail.
You used a solvent to clean both surfaces before applying the tape, yes? You can always try a very thin layer of Gorilla glue, instead of the tape after removal of the failing two-sided tape.
