Hi, After hearing a high-pitched sound and then some other strange sounds just after opening my laptop I think the speaker has trouble with high-pitched sound and so on. Do you guys think it’s repairable and if yes do you have a guide coming up? Thanks for this wanderful web site.
@seblg - Sorry no guides yet on the newer Touch Bar systems. Even so, the speakers are replaceable! Sadly they are glued in so they are hard to pull off without damaging them! Here’s the parts: MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2016-2017) Right SpeakerMacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2016-2017) Left Speaker If you review the MacBook Pro 15" Touch Bar Teardown Step12 you can see how well its glued in. Make sure you’ve ID’d the bad speaker using the balance control within the Sound control panel to bias which speaker is active. Also don’t forget the Left Speaker looking in from the bottom is the Right Speaker! Apple did have a recall for your system for blown speakers. I would try to see if you can get it fixed for free under that.
I had a right speaker that was outputting static on this model. I just completed a display assembly replacement and a bonus was the speaker is now working flawlessly. I’m wondering if just taking the bottom case off and blowing out any dust might do the trick for some with this issue.
