I am about to buy an iPhone 5 apparentyly it’s previous owner while trying to chnge he’s LCD screen damaged the lcd connetor on the logic board, apparentyl it’s bent. Has anyone been able to fix this, any tips…
Replacing any connector on the board is a straightforward board-level repair, but not really a DIY project. Sending the board out to have the connector replaced is a great way to save the phone and costs less than a screen. Most shops that offer board-level connector replacements on iPhones will already have all the connectors in stock. It can be tough to find certain connectors–especially on late model phones. These almost always have to come from China and even then the stock can be limited for certain connectors. You can sometimes get away with just reshaping the connector–many times it is just a single pin that is bent down. With great care and magnification, you may be able to use fine tweezers to straighten that pin. Best would be to replace it, but reshaping may help you in your diagnostics to see if this is the only defect in the phone. jessa
Yes, the connectors are available. Most of them are not an easy find, but they are out there. The soldering is a different matter. Unless you have the right tools and great skills soldering very small contacts to a surfaces mounted devices, I’d be a bit more cautious….good luck.
Does someone know if iphone 5G and iphone 5C has the same LCD Fpc connector?
