Dear Everybody and Ifixit! Please help me! I have an ipad 2 gsm. I had to change the screen and digitizer. In some reasons i hurt the surface mounted ribbon cable between the modem and the logical board. Right now i can’t make a restore, because the itunes can’t install the firmware to the modem. Please help me fix it! If this is not possible have any possibility to skip the modem? I don’t care the 3g if the ipad will be work! Thank you very much! Regards Janaboy Some pics:
You may be out of luck. You can try to manually download the WIFI only version of the software, but I don’t think that will even work. I think the best recommendation I can give is that you get a new logic board/modem and swap it with your broken one. Or you can try to get someone to solder the modem back in place. You may be able to find a company online who does this type of solder repair, but the price may be close to the cost of buying a whole new logic board.
Thanks guys for helping! After many months i have a friend who have very high skills in soldering and he created a new ribbon cable..now its working perfectly..
