Same thing just happened to my vizio xvt series…about 8 years old or less. Loud pop…went turn on or anything…at the time of incident….Apple tv was playing movie…ps3 was connect ed and off. Hd Antennae was connected as well. I plan to throw it from the nearest bridge…and buy a new tv.
@ziggythehipster anytime anything pops it should be relatively easy to determine what happened. In your case you will have to remove the back of your TV and take a good look at all the boards and check for obvious damage like domed or leaky capacitors, blown MOSFET’s and (commonly) blown rectifier circuits All of this will most likely boil down to a new power board. Vizio is not one of the most reliable brands nor are they consumer friendly or even remotely interested in helping anyone to repair their sets. Take a couple of good pictures of your boards and post those with your question. that way we can see what you see. Adding images to an existing question
