Chosen Solution
Hi. I recently changed the DC in Board on my MacBook Pro 13” Late 2011, trying to fix the “dim light / no charge” issue. Replacing it did not solve my problem. However, I did notice my Logic Board very dirty with dust, which prevented me to do a more “in depth” inspection. I know I should use Isopropyl Alchohol 99%, but due to Covid-19 it has been a near impossible task for me to get a hold of a bottle. I did discover a bottle of 70% Isopropyl Alcohol in my emergency kit. I know it is not the most desirable thing, but I just can’t get my hands around a 99% bottle. So, given that I am short on options, is there something I can combine here, for example 70% + hair dryer, or some idea? I do understand that the other 30% is Pure Water (which is not the same as say Tap Water). Any ideas? Thanks
The bigger concern is what’s in it! Pure water just means its slow to dry, Acetone or Toluene could be a problem if you are using it on plastic. There can also be solids which when you evaporate the Isopropyl Alcohol will leave a film which you don’t want. On a clean clear shot glass let some evaporate, did you see any film left? If you did then I would look some more.
