I bought a new keyboard and trackpad to try and save a staff member’s old Mac Air. I’m having a heck of time getting the flat ribbon cable that comes from the keyboard into the receiver slot on trackpad. I even bought a new trackpad that I didn’t really need b/c I thought they would mate better. So both cable and slot are brand new. I can’t figure out to force it in there without damaging it. It looks like it should be easy. What am I missing.?
It can be a bit tricky, I take a strip of electricians tape with a folded over end to make a pull tab stuck on the ribbon cable so I can get a better perch to pull the cable into the ZIF connector and then carefully flow over the hold down latch.
