Hi all. I’ve a 2011 imac 27. Due to the tipical dimming display problem, I’ve opened my mac to change the display. I have experience with computer assembly and I know what I do but during the last period I have run out of luck. Opening the imac I also changed the cpu with an i7 2600 instead of my i5 2500, and added an SSD. Reassembled all the imac won’t start: black screen and 3 beep from the speaker… Silence, 3 beep… Silence 3 beep. I’ve tried to re-change the cpu with the i5: same situation. Tried with the ram, change position, change modules: same situation. Removed the ssd: same situation. What’s wrong? Please help…
This usually indicates a RAM issue. I would try just one stick of the original RAM.
Looking at the CPU chips did you by chance damage one or more of the pins? I would put back your original CPU back in and disconnect both HD & SSD devices to see if it is still erring. Also check your other connections.
