I’m going to try and do a sort of refurb on my old 11" macbook air 2011. One of my kids “cleaned it” with a spray air freshener and now the keyboard is shot. It’s also had a bad track pad for a while now. Question is, I’m going to try and replace both parts. What parts, beside the pad itself and the upper case, if any will I need? Also, what size/type screw drivers, will I need? I have a P5 and a T5 but I’m already into the process and can see I need something larger for disconnecting the display. Any other tricky considerations? Thanks!
Hi If you are replacing the trackpad and top case you will need a top case with a keyboard backlight if the old one doesn’t work(if it works you can just go around the edges to loosen it up and transfer it over) and you will need to transfer the old trackpad cable over to the new one Heres the guides you will need for these repairs Top case MacBook Air 11" Mid 2011 Upper Case Replacement Track pad MacBook Air 11" Mid 2011 Trackpad Replacement As for Screwdrivers and tools I recommend one of iFixits toolkits, they will last you a lifetime and have the majority of the bits you need for most repairs and I can say this from experience and in confidence Heres on that should do the job for you:-) Essential Electronics Toolkit Hopefully this helps Any questions please ask Thanks:-)
