Recently managed to damage my laptop logic board and just got it back from the repair shop and it now works and accepts charge, but only works when plugged in. The laptop doesn’t recognise the battery, I tried a new one, which the people at the shop said would fix it, but no luck. Tried resetting SMC and PRAM. Is it likely to be an issue with the logic board’s interaction with the battery? Thanks Update (03/07/2018) Hey, I have coconutbattery and it doesn’t recognise any battery. See results here

To get a much better idea of the condition of the battery, if it is charging, if even seen, download and run Coconut battery and post your results. http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutba

Conor, This could be a number of things, Could be a dead ISL, could be blown current sense resistors, or as a last resort, could be a dead SMC. DO NOT let that shop touch the smc without properly diagnosing the rest of the charging circuit.
