The battery in my MacBook Pro A1425 was draining fast and had to be charged constantly, so I decided to buy a replacement. I replaced the battery, it’s recognized by macOS, but it won’t run on battery power, and it says it’s not charging. It only runs with the power cord connected. I tried to put the old battery back, but it now has the same problem, won’t run of the battery. So now the new battery is back inside. Tried resetting SMC a couple of times, but no difference. This is what coconutBattery tells me.

What is there left to try?

It’s possible you got a bad battery, I’d try changing it again. Maybe this time from a different vendor.

Any Luck with this ? My A1425 does not recognize the battery after I changed the trackpad. I am getting ready to change the battery considering that it is about 5 yrs old and probably done with the cycles. But just wondering if I might run into this issue since I had no issues with the battery prior to replacing the trackpad.
