I have recently been experiencing an issue in which my MacBook Pro freezes when moved. Vertical bars will momentarily flash on the screen, after that occurs the screen remains on as it was before but becomes unresponsive requiring a restart. Upon restart laptop works as normal, no error messages are displayed. I know similar questions have been answered however none I have seen have had the screen remain on as normal after freezing. Many thanks for any responses. I swapped the stock hdd to a 250gb ssd and upgraded to 16gb of ram around 2015. No issues until recently. Has been displaying these symptoms for a few weeks.
Your Mac uses main RAM for video RAM. So if the RAM holder is not making good contact to the SO-DIMM or the connections to the logic board you can get disconnection type of issue which you lift the system as the systems body has a bit of flex. I would remove the SO-DIMM’s and using a fresh soft pencil eraser clean the contacts going with the grain of the contacts. Then using a cotton swab (T-Tip) slightly damp with 80% or better isopropyl alcohol clean off the contacts again to remove any eraser traces. If the plastic catches are warn take a small piece of old credit card wedged behind the clip to help press the inward.
