Hi, I bought this 2011 MacBook Pro 13" i7 (8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD) this year. It’s been performing like a beast. My charger broke about three weeks ago due to wear and tear, I ordered one last week which also broke after a few days. I thought this was strange but ordered yet another one which arrived today, it’s charging the battery but nothing happens when I press the power button, no noise which I usually hear upon start up, nothing. I’ve tried the SMC reset but not working. Also note - it had a small 1 FT drop whilst laying dead for the last week, small drop but seemed it landed heavy enough. Any options on what I should try? Thank you in advance.
Sadly, it sounds like your system is in trouble here. First review this Apple T/N: Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters. See if it offers a clue on whats damaged here.
The drop has nothing to do with it. You need to try a genuine apple 85W magsafe before anything. The copy chargers tend to kill the ISL chip on your motherboard. I get sent tons of machines with no power issues. I plug them into my charger and they work flawlessly. If your machine does not work with a different charger, you have a board level issue and someone skilled in microsoldering and board repair should be able to help you.
