Hi All, I’m running into an issue with my late-2013 Macbook Pro (MacBookPro11,3 with GeForce). When I shut the lid, the display shuts off but it doesn’t appear that the laptop is fully going to sleep. I can open the lid and the computer comes up, but the system is uncomforatbly warm after leaving it overnight. I have reset the SMC and NVRAM as well as completely reinstalled Mojave. This is a recent issue, in the last year or so. Any thoughts on debugging? Thanks, Ben

Good! Lets check the Hall lid sensor. You’ll need a steel paperclip and a small rare earth magnet. You’ll also want a small post-it page tag or something similar. Use the paperclip sliding it on the left side of the screen to locate the magnet when you feel the magnet tugging. Now carefully fold the lid down and use your post-it marker to transfer the position on the top of the uppercase. With the system running slide the magnet along the uppercase surface to locate the sensor. The screen should go off when you hit the location and then recover when the magnet is removed. Was the location of the sensor at the same place as the magnet? Did the display not go off?
