I have an early 2015 MacBook Pro with Retina Display. I recently upgraded the OS (to either Catalina or Big Sur, I honestly can’t remember) and since then have been having intermittent issues powering on - it turns on okay but I get the nice ? and folder icon meaning it can’t locate the hard drive. :( It’s happening with more and more frequency and when I’ve been able to boot and try recovery mode, it can’t find the hard drive to repair it. So I’m wondering: is it a hard drive issue or logic board? Is there a way for me to determine that? Thanks in advance for your help! Hoping it’s a hard drive issue which I feel more comfortable replacing but figured I’d ask if there’s any way to diagnose it before buying a replacement kit.
HI Sami, I can confirm for you that it is a Hardrive Fault and it will need replacing to obtain usage of the machine again back to normal as the machine is 6 years old and components needs changing time to time . I hope this helps
