I have a Macbook Pro, serial ending in F5WV, that was purchased refurb from apple for a employee to use. It last about 6 months until it was brought back to me for having no display. I did some digging and I have come to the conclusion that the backlight is the issue. -I can do the flashlight trick and see my apple logo and users etc….. -I can hook it to an external monitor and have it work perfect. -I get a tiny little flash every time i boot but other than that the screen shows no life unless the flashlight is held up behind it I have located the fuse and the driver but when i go to check the fuse the board shorts and cuts off. Obviously i am not finding the correct ground. Any help with this issue would be GREATLY appreciated!! Even if its just helping track it down to the fuse or the driver!

The computer should not even be on when you’re checking the fuse; use a multimeter, set it to resistance mode, and put one probe on each side of the fuse to check it. There should be a ~0Ω short across the fuse.

Have you tried a PRAM and SMC reset? You can find instructions on the Apple website. That fixed a computer for me before so it’s worth a shot.
