Hello, I’m reaching out as I am at my wits end with my MBP :”( It’s a 13” MacBook Pro Retina from Mid-2014. I’ve taken great care of it and use it for a lot of music production / graphic design. My stock battery was 1000 over the cycle count and eventually wouldn’t charge anymore. At the time, it was sitting around 7-15% on the charger status Not Charging but fully operable, no lag, etc. I eventually disconnected it to move it and after that it wouldn’t boot, only showing the black screen that indicates you need to plug in a charger. Note: Prior to this I tried SMC resets, PRAM resets, etc. So I purchased a new battery from ifixit. I had a friend who works on computers install it for me, and upon installation everything appeared to be fine! We plugged it in and it started charging the new battery, status Charging! I brought it home, calibrated it the same night, it dies and charges to 100%. The next day, it will no longer charge. I’m now at 8% again on the replacement battery, status Not Charging. I borrowed a friends charger to make sure it wasn’t my charger, still Not Charging. Tried SMC resets with the new charger, still nothing! I’m not sure what to do. From what I’ve read, it could be the MagSafe DC Inboard? Or it could be a faulty battery? Or could it be a Logic board or IO issue?? And of course all of this during Quarantine. I work full-time on my laptop and have no idea what to do with myself at the moment as I try to solve this. AND AS I TYPE THIS…. ITS CHARGING AGAIN. 10% NOW. The day after the replacement. Clearly something is still malfunctioning?? Someone suggested not enough power from the outlet as well but I’ve tried every one in my house. Any insight is appreciated, thank you!

The charging logic within your logic board needs repairs. Sadly, the MagSafe charger you have is a fake unit as they often damage the systems charging logic when the battery is at its lowest point Lacking safety features, cheap MacBook chargers create big sparks & Fake Apple MagSafe vs. Real Genuine Apple MagSafe
