Chosen Solution

Hi, I posted this question a few months ago and managed to resolve it myself by changing the DC in board, but today the same issue happened. Laptop ran out of charge and doesn’t charge when plugged in or start up. The DC in board is only a month old and looks fine visually. I also took apart the computer to make sure the connections were secure and clean and they are. The charger blinks green three times over ten seconds when I plug it in and the indicator light shows that it has no charge. My battery was tested last week in coconut battery and has 86% health so it’s still okay. I’m at wits end as the laptop was working fine before I ran out of battery. Original question: “I’ve had my mid-2012 15 inch unibody Macbook Pro since 2012 and it’s been a champ, withstanding daily use of up to 7+ hours. Only issue I ever had with it was a wifi ribbon that needed replacing a year ago. Yesterday night, I was busy working and lost track of the charge and it died. Plugged it into my charger, but the charger light wouldn’t come on and there was no evidence that it was charging. Not to worry, I had another charger and tried with a different outlet. This charger’s light blinked green three times before going dark again. Still nothing. I unscrewed the bottom and disconnected the battery before trying to plug it in and power it on, but still nothing. I’ve run the laptop before with the battery cable out so this gave me pause. My concern now is that its either an issue with the magsafe port or the logic board, and I’m praying its not the latter as I leave for an overseas trip in two days and need my laptop to do work there. As a result of the battery being drained, I can’t do an SMC or PRAM reset and can’t run any diagnostics. Any advice would be appreciated.”

I then go back to the charger! The problem many people have is you can’t tell the real from the fake! They look exactly the same! The source on where you bought it is often the only way you can tell, buying it directly from Apple! While I have no love for Apples high prices, this is one of the places you really can’t skimp without putting your system and even you and your house at risk! ● Counterfeit Macbook charger teardown: convincing outside but dangerous inside ● Lacking safety features, cheap MacBook chargers create big sparks ● Compared: Fake vs Genuine Apple Magsafe Chargers I can tell you horror stories of fires caused by fakes. One of the companies I was working at had one of its engineers forgetting his charger on his trip so he went down to a local computer store to pick one up as he had an important presentation the next day. He plugged his system in and went to dinner, he came back to find the hotel he was staying at was on fire! And it was his room! After years of lawsuits the company I was working at required every charger tested and marked as tested. No one was allowed to use any that was not verified as real.
