I cleaned the fan in my macbook this morning. When I turned my macbook back on everything was working fine, it loaded ok, except that I can’t see anything on the screen. I know it has loaded because the screen starts to go to sleep or dims after couple of minutes. What I see is a grey/white screen depending on the brightness. I’m sure behind the grey screen is my login screen. When I was cleaning the fan, I unplugged the three connectors (the hard drive, and the two next to that). I also had a look at the data display connector which I think may have caused my problem. But I did plug them all back in, the mac can’t be that sensitive can it? Help please!
Hi Sounds like a hard drive connection issue. In my experience Apple products are very sensitive. What did you use to clean the Mac? I would make sure that all the connections are secure and that your HDD cable is not damaged. If none of that works try an SMC reset.
I agree with tiger, a white screen usually indicates a hard drive issue. The hard drive/IR cables go out frequently on this machine. If you have another Mac see if you can access the hard drive via Target mode.
