Pretty much what the title says, I just found my macbook pro 15” from 2010 and tried turning it on (already replaced the battery), and it showed no signs of life. I then did a SMC reset (holding the power button for 10 secs, then plugging in the charger and waiting 10 more secs before releasing the power button) and it boots up, but the fans are at full blast and if I try to restart it, I have to redo the entire process. Is there a way to fix this, or do I just have to buy a new one?

Let’s try to run the onboard diagnostics. Restart your system and this time press the D key to enter into diagnostics. Reference: Mac startup key combinations Hopefully your systems EFI will allow it. Apple broke diagnostics with newer macOS versions ;-{ let us know what you get.
