I was sitting at my desk running word and safari while my mac was plugged in to the official apple charger. It was charged to 80% when it randomly shut off while I was typing a sentence in word. It is now unresponsive, will not turn on at all even when an SMC reset is attempted. The genius bar technician was stumped, he said it has nothing to do with the battery and might be a issue with the motherboard, but I haven’t had any previous issues. No water damage, never dropped, and it was recently updated to big sur. It was totally random as it was running fine one second and powerless the next.
Let’s get a better view of things, install this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question You have a hardware level issue, likely a power issue. MS Word is not the problem. If you can’t get it to startup via the charger you’ll need to find someone who can inspect things internally.
