The charging symbol sometimes has a white background with the electricity signal but it often does not charge the macbook.
At this point you’re going to need to pop the logic board out and do a detailed inspection on both sides. Follow this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014 Logic Board Replacement. I’m suspecting you have some corrosion or a failing chip on the logic board.
