I ordered a battery from iFixit for my 2016 15” Touchbar Macbook Pro. Installed the battery, and everything seemed to go smoothly except that the glue really put up a fight. As soon as I rebooted the laptop, I noticed something wrong - the display was no longer working. I connected an external HDMI display via USB-C to see what was going on - MacOS didn’t even see the internal display anymore. I thought display cable at first since the graphics hardware itself seems to be working, but then I also noticed that the battery only charged up to 1% maximum in 6 hours, and then stopped charging entirely, and MacOS says the new battery cannot be charged and needs service. The battery is also incapable of powering the laptop - if I pull the USB-C power, it dies instantly. I’m willing to attempt replacing the display cable to see if that works (I ordered one), but I’m a little bit worried about the coincidence of both failures happening at once, and the possibility that the logic board might have been damaged. I don’t have the budget to start throwing parts at it until it works. So if the new display cable doesn’t work, does anyone have any suggestions? Or should I write off this poor Macbook Pro and consider myself lucky I only wasted $150 on a battery and a cable?

You may have damaged the logic board in the process of taking off the bottom cover. Inserting too deeply or using a metal tool could have hit your logic board.
