Hello, I have a Maytag MFC2062FEZ01, roughly 4 years old. The bottom drawer freezer has some frost build up this morning and the light is not coming on. The freezer seems to be holding tempurature/ freezing as ice bin is full, everything in freezer seems to be right temp, and temp setting shows 0 degrees. Thanks for any advice!
Hi @incolorado , Try manually operating the door switch, part #16- freezer liner and ice maker parts diagram a few times to see if the light comes on when the switch is released. Allow a few seconds between releasing the switch and re-operating it so that you can hear if the evaporator fan which is in the freezer compartment turns on when the switch is operated and stops when it is released, simulating the door being shut and then opened. If the fan turns on and off when the switch is operated and then released then try changing the light bulb, part #9- freezer liner and ice maker parts diagram or swapping it with the light bulb in the refrigerator compartment (if it works OK) just to check if it is a faulty bulb. Disconnect the power from the refrigerator when removing/inserting the bulbs. Keep an eye on the frost build up as it may be only a temporary thing and will go away at the next auto defrost cycle. If it continues to build up then there may be a problem.
