Hello, I recently reformatted my Early 2011 13" MacBook Pro with Sierra and while everything runs fine, the idle temps seem abnormally high. It idles around 50-60C and goes upward of 80-90C with more tasks. At 80-90C the fan blasts away and if I am on the battery, the battery jumps to 2% no matter what %age I was at. Any ideas of what may be wrong? Is my thermal paste not working properly? Here are pics of my idle and working temps
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If you haven’t already down load this app: TG Pro it’s by far the best fan & temp monitoring app. Let’s let it run awhile so we can get a good two to four days of running to see what’s happening. You’ll need to full version to get the loging function. Paste the log file here for us to see. Many 13” systems had issues with the HD SATA cable. Other than doing a good dust out I would recommend replacing the cable. Here is the IFIXIT guide you’ll need to follow: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Early 2011 Hard Drive Cable Replacement? I would strongly recommend you use the newer version of the cable which you can find here: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable- Apple P/N 923-0104. This 13” MacBook Pro 2012 cable is the better one. That might fix your issue.
