I use my tablet for gaming with micro usb-otg connection to connect a joypad. I also use it to plug in a usb midi controller for making music. It was all working fine till about an hour ago, I tried to plug in an electric piano (from the late 80s) which has a midi output, via the two midi cables into a usb, then into a micro usb otg. The tablet recognised it for a moment then stopped. Since then, I have tried the midi controller, two gamepads and different otg connectors and the tablet will not recognise anything. It will also not charge if I plug it in while it is switched off and will only charge if it is switched on. I take it I have been pretty stupid attempting to plug an 80s midi device which is plugged in from the mains and have fried the tablet somehow with a power surge or something? Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with this and is it repairable?
Simon Elder you will have to try a factory reset first. If that does not work, disassemble your tablet and take a look at the charging port and it’s connection. Make sure that everything is still properly attached and try to determine if you have any obvious damaged component on the logic board. Right now it appears as if you short circuited your connector on a board level.
