my laptop ASUS ROG G531GT won’t turn on, when i take it to a repair shop, he checked it and the chipset was emitting smoke, “it’s neither GPU nor CPU but it’s a chipset” he said I don’t know, the biggest square chip on the circuit board is 3. Is this still fixable, or should I buy that expensive new circuit board?

@xcution this is a really tough one. In order to repair your board (not even sure which IC or part of “the chipset” started smoking) but it is obvious your board needs to be looked at. So you need schematics, boardviews and somebody that has the right knowledge and skills. While those people are most certainly available, none of this repair will be cheap. For now I suggest you take a couple of really good pictures of your motherboard and post those with your QUESTION. That way we can see if there is anything obvious etc. You can check some of the repair sites online that do not charge you but give you an estimate for what the repair might cost. It maybe cheaper to replace this board. Adding images to an existing question
