My computer is an HP and when I turn it on it goes to the sign in screen, as usual, but when I try a log in it gives the normal loading screen than blacks out. I can sometimes see and move the little pointer. I’m useless at computers, please help!

Let us know what model your HP is and what operating system your computer uses. Something like Windows 7,8 or 10 so we can try and assist you further with that.
Try Control Alt delete, start new task, explorer.exe
I haven’t seen a problem like this… Have you taken the cover of the pc off and blown it? Usually the dust clogs the fans which leads to overheating and then black screen.
