Hi, I recently bought a broken 3ds from ebay for $30 USD, without the SD card. The console won’t turn on, and had some rust that I fixed with some WD-40. It looks and feels brand new, is the unit bricked? I have seen things about the black screen of death but I was going to go here before I made any moves. If you are noticing rust or corrosion on your logic board, I would suggest cleaning it with Isopropyl Alcohol, continue cleaning until all corrosion is removed, give it a few minutes to dry, then begin reassembling the unit, then attempt to power it on

@Monke Monke looks like your board got some issues. Hence the importance of always removing the board and checking both sides. Okay, time to clean it. Use something like this guide , and even so it was written for an apple iPhone 3G, all the points are still pertinent to your 3DS. Once properly cleaned, check the components for obvious damage. Check the individual traces to make sure they are not torn or have lifted. Check F1 and F2 for continuity. Do not try to power it up etc. until it is cleaned. It could further damage your board. If you are really ambitious, you can check the test points after it has been been cleaned. this can help for further troubleshooting TP Testpoints For 3DS No more WD40 since it can create more trouble as a conductor.
