When I turn on my TV the logo pops up and it’s dim and it looks like the light comes from just the bottom half of the TV but that might just be how the logo is displayed. About 2 seconds later it goes black and when I flash my flashlight on it I can see the screen. I’m not sure if there is a problem with the backlight or the power board. I don’t have a voltmeter and was hoping if anyone had any tips about determining what the problem was without one. Thanks in advance.

Hi @jttoronto , Without a DMM (digital multimeter) you would be only guessing where the problem is. Faults in electronic equipment displaying the same symptoms e.g. no backlights, doesn’t necessarily mean that the cause of the problem is always the same. It would be nice if this were the case. Some form of testing has to be done but if you don’t have one the alternatives are: Purchase a backlight tester to test the LED backlights and check if they work or not. If they don’t work OK, then the problem is in the backlights and this would have to be further diagnosed as to the cause. Search on YouTube for how to use a TV LED backlight tester to test the LED strips If they do work OK i.e. LEDs on full intensity when using the tester, then next is to replace the power board and check if that fixed it. Maybe first inspect the power board for any obvious component damage e.g. heat stressed components or blown or bulging capacitors If that didn’t work then next is to replace the mainboard and check if that fixed it.
