Had over heating issues took it apart to clean it and put it back together now I cant have it on more than 2 minutes. Would the fan be dead doesnt seem to wanna turn on or should I try thermal paste 1st?
Hi @light_mythical , Have you checked that the fan cable is still securely connected to the motherboard after your cleaning efforts, you didn’t say? If the fan cable connection is secure, if you have a DMM (digital multimeter) use it to test if the fan motor is OK by measuring between the red and black fan cable wires at the cable plug connector for resistance (or continuity), when it is disconnected from the motherboard. Here’s the ifixit PlayStation 4 Fan Replacement guide. The fan cable connection to the motherboard can be seen at Step.29 in the guide. Hopefully a start.
