Hi, my Frigidaire Gallery Refrigerator model number LGHB2869TF isn’t cooling nor is the freezer working. It’s less than a year old. Everything was great until we had a power outage. I unplugged the fridge and once the power was back on I plugged it back in but it hasn’t worked at all. I unplugged it for a day and tried again but still nothing. I’ve went through the troubleshooting guide and nothing helped. It acts like the fan isn’t kicking on. I can hear fans blowing in the unit but the fan at the bottom near the compressor isn’t running. Please help me understand what could have happened and where is the best place to start. Thank you!!

Hi @rpmsmomma2 Can you hear or even “feel” if the compressor motor is running? If it is operating, has it been running continually trying to cool the freezer and fridge down? The condenser fan, (the one near the compressor) may not necessarily have to be running. It is only there to cool the condenser coils as required, if they are too warm. The evaporator fan (if this is the one that you’re hearing) is inside the freezer compartment. It should stop when a door is opened (any door) and start again when the door is shut. If the compressor is running you need to check if the evaporator unit (located inside the freezer compartment behind a panel) is getting icy cold. If the compressor is running and the evaporator is not getting icy cold then you have a sealed system problem, which could be the compressor not working properly, blockage in the system, or a lack of refrigerant due to a leak. With the latter, check for any oily residues underneath the refrigerator compressor or on the condenser coils. If it is a sealed system problem, this will have to be checked out by a licenced refrigerator repair service to comply with environmental laws regarding the handling of refrigerant gases. If the compressor is not running you need to check if the control board or the inverter control board has been damaged by the outage. Here’s a link to the parts for your refrigerator. The control board is Cabinet part #50 and the inverter control board is System part #30 If either board looks like it has been damaged (burnt out components etc) post some close up images of the damage back here. Here’s how to do this. Adding images to an existing question Also if the compressor or control board(s) have been damaged this may be covered by your household contents insurance policy. Worth a check anyway ;-)
