My GE Cafe dishwasher (CDT725SSF7SS) has worked wonderfully for 4 1/2 years, but about four months ago started leaving a terrible brown or dark stain on stainless, plastics and ceramics (basically everything). We have not changed detergent (Cascade), items being washed, settings (normal wash, heated dry, use jet dry), city water is the same, so we are at a loss as to what is causing it. I had service check to be sure it is running properly, and they said the machine is operating properly, including water temp being hot enough. I’ve used citrus crystals three times - zero impact. I’ve tried different detergents - Finish and Kirkland, yet no difference. I called the neighbors to see if they’ve had any new issues, thinking it might be the city water, and nothing. I even called the City, and they haven’t changed the water chemistry, pipes or anything in my area, so it can’t be the water. Help please - we’re stumped! Thanks, Chris
This happened to us as well, and continues to happen. I noticed it first on my china or anything light in color. I then noticed it on cutting boards and can even see a mottled look on darker items. The only way I can clear the dishes is by dipping them in a solution of bleach water. This lasts a few months, then the stains reappear. I have done all of the recommended diagnostics as well, including checking with our water provider. Very frustrating.
Hi @cprover , Did you check that the filters are OK as you didn’t mention it? Here’s an image that may help.
(click on image to enlarge for better viewing) If the filters are faulty here’s a link to the parts. The filters are part #451 & 502 in the Sump and filter assembly diagram. The supplier linked was only to show the location of the parts and cost. There are other suppliers online that may suit you better. Just search for CDT725SSF7SS parts to get results
