My neighbor fixed the fridge cooling fan but temp won’t go down past 40 degrees. The freezer is good zero degrees however the usual temp is -4/34. Now it’s 0/40. If fridge temp goes up. Point freezer temp goes up a point it’s not working at its full capacity. Fridge is 8 years old. Is it time to buy new fridge. It takes overnight for fridge to cool down to 40 again if I put food in.
Hi @auntsuzie , Apologies for being so pedantic, but there are two fans inside the refrigerator. One is in the freezer section and the other is in the refrigerator section. Which one was fixed? Also there are two evaporator units for the refrigerator. One in each compartment. The evaporator units generate the “cold” for each compartment. There is only one compressor however. There is a valve which is used to direct the refrigerant, being pumped by the compressor to both evaporators. This is controlled by the control board and its’ operation depends on the temperatures required in each of the compartments as to where the refrigerant is directed to and for how long etc. e.g. both evaporators simultaneously or only the one. First verify that the fan -fresh food section part #710 in the refrigerator compartment is working. I think that there is a door switch in the door jamb of the refrigerator. If you open the door and manually operate and release the door switch the light should go off and on and also the fan should start and stop i.e. light off- fan on, light on - fan off. Check if you can either hear it stop and start or feel the cold air flowing or not out of the vent in the refrigerator compartment. There is also a refrigerator temperature sensor -part #719 which may be sending the incorrect information to the control board. Hopefully a start.
