I am looking for same help! My iPhone 4 got wet it was fell down in a sink with water but only for a few seconds. I immediately wipe it, but the flashlight was on and its getting very hot. As soon as I am home I use hair drier and put it in a container with rice and keep it for 2 days…today I charge and try to turn it on but its not working…i can only see a logo on screen and it keeps on vibrating…have called apple service center and explained everything that happened they told me their is still a possibility to fix it but the amount I need to pay is almost half of the amount of the unit..so they recommend to better purchase a new unit.
dawndwight skip the rice. It does absolutely do nothing but waste valuable time. It does not stop corrosion and will not fix your phone. Read this for more inforamtion on that. The very first thing I suggest is that you stop using the device, (remove the battery) and totally disassemble it, follow the guides on here. Then clean it with +90% isopropyl alcohol. This will displace the water and stop corrosion. It it okay to submerge a board in isopropyl alcohol. Here is a guide for that. Even so it was written for a 3G, the procedure is still the same. After that, gently air dry all the components. Do not forget to clean the connectors on the board as well as the cables. Then re-assemble with a new battery This is not optional but a must to avoid failure later on. " Check your board for any missing or damaged component. Water damage is the toughest to trouble shoot and to repair.
