The screen might remain black when there is a corrupted graphics driver or a problem with the LCD display back light. You can just attach an external monitor to test the display. If an image displays on the external monitor, there might be a graphics driver conflict with the notebook LCD display. You can also try a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug it’s AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then boot it back up and see if it will load normally.
