I’ve tried all the steps mostly given my laptop is a hp pavilion 15t-bc200 in-built battery and I was using it fine a day a go, shut down properly only for it to start acting up today. It won’t come up, when plugged in no led indication at all. I tried plugging my usb to it and even in its “dead state my phone was charging tho I unplugged it immediately” After performing the steps seen mostly (the battery removal then draining and changing the ram and it’s position I still got nothing) it’s completely dead now It still isn’t coming on and there is no charging indication. The only thing that changed was the usb port no longer charged my phone. Pls help, I’ve checked everywhere, I really need your help, I got a project which already has little time to work on now my only laptop won’t even on ?
Hi, First check that there is 19.5V DC on the output plug of the charger. If the charger is OK, here’s the maintenance and service guide for the laptop, taken from this webpage. It doesn’t list your exact model in the guide but I assume since it was linked it must be the correct one. Go to p.59 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the power connector, (aka DC-In jack). This is only to show how to gain access to the connector. Once you have access, unplug the power connector from the motherboard and then use an Ohmmeter to test for continuity of the wires from the jack to the plug at the other end of the cable. If the centre pin connection (or even the outer sleeve connector of the jack) is open circuit then the jack will have to be replaced as they cannot be repaired. The spare part number is shown at the top of the page in the manual. Search online using the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best. If both of the above tests are OK then there is a motherboard problem. What is the make and model number of the motherboard? (printed on the motherboard) Finding the schematics of the motherboard (easier by searching for the board’s make and model number rather than the laptop’s model number) will help to trace the input power path through the motherboard to find out why there is no power indication when the charger is connected for a start. You could always remove the HDD/SSD and insert it in another PC etc to gain access to your project data whilst finding a fix for your laptop. Just a thought. Search online for how to connect a HDD/SSD from a dead laptop.
