I have a MacBook Pro 13 Retina (Mid 2014) and the screen has gone off and never comes back on again. It happend after installed Ubuntu 18.04 and refit. At end of install I observe diverse graphic errors and force power off the computer (holding power button for 5 sec). If the computer keep closed it works on external display over HDMI but not on it’s own display. Anyone can help me? I try different method to try resolve this but none works. Reset SMC Reset PRAM Reinstall OSX Recovery from Internet Boot arguments (-F, resolution, etc…) Disconnect Battery Disconnect Display Cable, then reset PRAM and SMC. And none of these work, the laptop only works on external display. But if I try open the display nothing happens. I don’t know what’s the problem but seems resolution parameters of the integrated display, Ubuntu installer must be change this on firmware (it’s possible?)
UPDATE: Today i try again and get a error code in this test. The log indicates: “StackShot REason : Sleep transition time out after 180 seconds while entering darkwake on way to sleep. Suspected bundle: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily. Thread 0x74 Failure Code: 0xd44517be 00000031” Also i see various errors say that blocked by kernel mutex owed by UNKNOWN TASK thread 0xXXx \example: 0x46c the bootRom is 149.0.0.0.0 and SMC 2.16f68
Do you have access to a second Mac? If you do see if you can leverage it as the boot drive via Target Disk Mode. Or setup a bootable USB Thumb drive and use it to boot up your system. The goal here is to see if this is an OS issue or hardware. Reference: Mac startup key combinationsUnderstanding the Applications for Target Disk Mode
Hi, if still relevant. Open the macbook and diconnnect the batteries for about 10sec.
