Hi there, I’ve got a problem that’s getting more and more annoying with my macbook - the screen is becoming more and more glitchy - it freezes up, becomes bleached out, gets bands of colour down it. fortunately i think it’s just a loose connection as the picture is fine if i run it through my tv, even when it’s glitching up on the mac screen. moving the screen back and forth used to help but this is becoming less effective. do you know how i might be able to repair it myself? thanks M Smith

You’ve given a very generic ID of your machine so here’s a generic answer: you’ll have to open the box and see if the cable was/is cut/pinched or if a connector is broken. You might be able to repair the cable, or, i may need replacing. Since an external video displays no idiosyncrasy the problem is most likely in the internal display chain, from your description I would guess it to be the LVDS cable. If the connector on the video cable is bad replacing the cable (rather than soldering the connector) is a good place to start. If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it.
